I need a couple of days off, far away from Brussels. A long week-end, a couple of week days, whatever, wherever.
I'd hate going alone so I need a guide. You may share my hotel room but I might snore so you could insist on having your own. I'm offering a city-trip in Belgium or somewhere in Europe. Of course, I will have the final word on the destination and the winner. For instance, les Ardennes, London, Paris, Dublin or Prague would be nice... like a handsome man between 40 and 50 (the romantic kitchen, please), but I'm open to any other propositions.
I'm drunk but I'm kidding you not. I will keep my word, I always do.
Brussels inhabitants only as interviews and further arrangements will take place here. Applications by email by 10 pm on 13 March. Many thanks in advance.
I wonder whether there will be a lucky winner. I might have to go alone, after all. Heigh ho.

Bloody crikey woman - I knew I shouldn't have left you in charge of the Jack Daniels.
I can't enter......the competition, as I am outside of the age range, but, I suggest you angle for some time in Munich. Just over an hours flight from Bru
Good luck - and I hope you get your wishes
I'll go with you... as long as you ARE a man between 40 and 50.
Goth Master, you know I don't drink whiskey or bourbon (nor ouzo). I just had two 9% Chimay last night, at home and on my own. You see, I'm very reasonable, as usual.
Your spells don't seem to work but thanks for the good luck wishes. I could make an exception to the rule because you're almost in the age range, but you're out of the 'competition' considering we couldn't possibly leave Mariposa behind. That would be three tickets and I can afford only two. But why Munich, what's so special out there?
Marianne, I'm definitely not a man but as I said, I'm open to any other straight propositions. For instance, we could go to the UK to see a Pam Ayres concert or Daphne could easily guide me to Bertillon on the rive gauche. I can picture us singing let's all salute the Wonderbra or slowly licking an ice-cream while watching the Parisian male fauna go by. Now wouldn't that be fun?
Just be careful!
Drat! I've always known I should move back to Belgium, be it only for such opportunities... Amsterdam would be a nice weekend destination, and is virtually next door to Bru.
How about Zoe as a travel companion? Sounds like she could use a change of scenary just now...
Ah, 'move back to Belgium', this explains your comment in perfect French I replied to on a previous post! Living in Brussels is so convenient as a lot of nice places are virtually next door. Amsterdam sounds good, I've never been there although I'd have a guide already (a friend's son who is studying over there).
Zoe would be a great travel companion. We could show the Trappist brothers how well we can handle four or five blue Chimay in a row. We did it before, right Zoe? Well, still feeling bleurgh or ready to go?
Pat, I promise to be careful, especially if I have to go alone. But that perspective won't stop me, I do need a break!
Yikes. Did my comment here get eaten by blogger?
Well, DQ, do tell us now then: are you interested in coming along and where would you like to go?
Late, as usual, but I'll add that you have what many men wish they had. I wish I had thought of it first. Good luck (my spells don't work either -- at least for others) and have a great time.
btw, I've been feeling like I need at least a weekend away for about two years now and I still feel like it, even after spending a week in Orlando with my sisters. Perhaps a man in the age range would have been more, er, restful.
Drat! I'm off to Paris this weekend. Could have saved the train fare.
CAREFUL, Pat? Where's the fun in that???
I'd come but I think I'd waste a space when there is a potential man out there. Also I'd only feel guilty and feel like I had to pay my share. Which would ruin the fun of a free trip.
So the criteria has to be a nice gentleman who doesn't get the guilts. . .
Δεν είμαι παρά μια σκιά!
How one passer by!
In spite of the intoxication of the moment, my friendship accompanies you in your search by happiness,
Je ne suis donc qu’une ombre le regard puis le sourire d'un passant que tu croise
So I apparently have what many men wish they had and there must be a potential man out there. Great. But I haven't heard of any of them so far. No female travel companion either. That's it then, I'm going alone. Just... my shadow will follow me.
Dip Dop, thanks again for your wishes and friendship. But what's the intoxication of the moment?
Don't go the week before or the week after Easter - fairly sure I'm coming to Belgium.
You lucky girl...........
Great news Kissme! I'll be here before and after Easter. I live in a rather dodgy place but Greek hospitality is not a vain word and you are most welcome here with me (I promise to make an effort and do the spring cleaning just before you arrive).
Lucky me? Could be... I do live in hope. I made my mind up tonight, I'm going for the pipers in Paris, thanks to Daphne Wayne-Bough's enlightenment.
See you soon then! We keep in touch by email concerning your travel details. xxx
Don't get too excited, we'll ALL be coming over.
And that's not a pretty sight
What unpretty sight, are you taking the cats, dead gerbils and goldfish too? Keep me informed anyway. I only have one large bed but I do have enough chairs and in case I'd be too lazy or short of time to cook you a Greek meal, I'll take you ALL to the restaurant. We won't omit the Belgian beer tasting, it goes without saying.
See you all very soon!
Did you get any takers?
damn i missed the deadline!,I'd have gone with you and we could have looked for men together instead of taking the risk of going with one that you may decide you wanted to dump after the first 2hours. Oh well I'll have to make do with a trip to Edinburgh (yippee) in a couple of weeks to escape from my life as is at the moment.x
No takers, DQ. My trip to Paris alone is confirmed, I leave early morning on Saturday and return on Monday evening. My hotel is in Montmartre, so I'll be surrounded by Scots (yippee indeed).
Edinburgh (and Scotland in general) is fabulous, I've been there at the age of 17 and long to go again. Phoenix, I'll look for you up there x
Well seems Phoenix is more delighted by here trip away than my trip to her's?
Auch well.
Footloose and fancy free Minky. You set your own agenda, see the sights you want and find a nice man's arms to fall into with getting hassled about abandoning your traveling companion.
Bliss.
Prenez de belles photos, à bientôt !
Bon voyage, Flower of saffron
Footloose and fancy free, not bad at all indeed...
Merci Did!
